Students Welcome Reception

The Students' Welcome Reception is a great opportunity to meet new colleagues  (or renew old friendships) from around the World. IES officers and organizers look forward to this opportunity to give you a very warm welcome. The reception is included in every Student registration. The location will be announced in the conference materials that you receive at the conference desk.

Student Scholarships

The IES Student Activities Committee offers financial aid for students to attend IECON-2008 and ICELIE-2008. For the 2008 year, IES has allocated 11 scholarships of $ 500 each.

In order to participate in this program the applicants must fulfill the following conditions:

  • be an active IEEE-IES Student Member;
  • reside outside the city in which the conference is held;
  • have a paper accepted at the Conference and be the person who will present it;
  • no more than one scholarship will be allocated for one paper, or the one person in the same year.

Students interested in this program should submit an application form (.DOC .PDF) for the scholarship.

They should indicate their IEEE membership numbers and the reference numbers of the paper. Submit all the material by e-mail (e-mail is preferred in pdf format), or air mail to:

Deadline - 15 July 2008

The results of the selection will be announced - 30 July 2008

All the material will be evaluated by a Committee constituted by the Chair of IES Student Activities Committee, IES President, Conference General Chair, and IES Treasurer.

In case the number of applicants exceeds the budget, preference will be given to:

  • students with the best qualified papers according to conference paper review;
  • students who have not benefited from this program in the last two years.

Special note:

Student Scholarships will be paid during conference. Recipients must submit to the IES Treasurer a U.S. tax form W-8 (non U.S. citizens) or W-9 (U.S. citizens).
